Letter from the Chapter
Welcome Potential New Members to Sigma Kappa!
As this year’s recruitment chairs, we would like to welcome all of you to the Alpha Mu chapter of Sigma Kappa here at Michigan, and also to give you all some insight as to why we decided to join Greek life.
My name is Julia Duffy and my original reason for joining Greek life was to make a large school feel smaller. I came from a high school with 150 people in my class, so the jump to 7,000 was a real culture shock for me. When I went through recruitment I had nearly no information about any of the sororities on campus, so what really drew me to Sigma Kappa was the diversity of interests that members had. All of my friends have different majors and extracurriculars and conversations are always interesting, but we all fit together perfectly. Best decision I’ve ever made!
My name is Casey Ketelhut and the main reason I joined Greek life was to find friendships like the ones I had growing up. I wanted to find a group of people that I felt comfortable being myself with, and I have undoubtedly found that at Sigma Kappa. Whether we are studying, getting ready for gamedays, or just eating cheesy bread and watching Game of Thrones, I can confidently say that the friends I made at SK are my people for life.
We’ve both experienced everything we could’ve wanted and more at Sigma Kappa. After living in the house last year, we have seen all of the values that are emphasized at SK (friendship, service, personal growth, and loyalty) applied to many different facets of our lives as well as of other members. We hope that you will consider going through formal recruitment with us and that you have similar but also unique experiences finding the friendships you will cherish for the rest of your lives. We are so excited to meet you at winter recruitment 2020!
