Chapter History

The Sigma Kappa Alpha Mu chapter at the University of Michigan was installed in 1924 and is one of the oldest chapters at the University of Michigan with hundreds of alumnae all around the world. Our chapter is constantly expanding in size and currently has over 200 collegiate members across the University of Michigan campus. We encourage you to join formal recruitment to learn more from our members and become a part of Sigma Kappa history!

The Sigma Kappa Foundation was created for a simple reason - to support the growth and success of our sorority nationwide. Since 1989, more than $1 million in scholarships have been awarded to Sigma Kappa members, including many in our own chapter! Funded by the Sigma Kappa Foundation, the Alpha Mu Chapter Scholarship’s “purpose is to provide scholarships for initiated collegiate members of Alpha Mu Chapter of Sigma Kappa who are in good standing, have a minimum GPA of 3.00 on a 4.00 scale, have demonstrated outstanding involvement and commitment to the chapter and have financial need”.
